The Uninvited (Krewe of Hunters) [Mass Market Paperback]

I've finished "The Uninvited" the book in her Krewe of Hunters series by Heather Graham.

Product Description

1777: In the throes of the Revolutionary War, Landon Mansion is commandeered by British Lord "Butcher" Bedford. He stabs Lucy Tarleton — who spurned his king and his love — leaving her to die in her father's arms.

NOW: After the day's final tour, docent Allison Leigh makes her rounds while locking up…and finds a colleague slumped over Bedford's desk, impaled on his own replica bayonet.

Resident ghosts may be the stock-in-trade of stately Philadelphia homes, but Allison — a noted historian — is indignant at the prospect of "ghost hunters" investigating this apparent murder.

Agent Tyler Montague knows his hauntings and his history. But while Allison is skeptical of the newcomer, a second mysterious murder occurs. Has "Butcher" Bedford resurfaced? Or is there another malevolent force at work in Landon Mansion? Wary, yet deeply attracted, Allison has to trust in Tyler and work with him to discover just what uninvited guest—dead or alive—has taken over the house.

Or their lives could become history!

My Review:

The Tarleton-Dandridge house gives tours to the public.   All of the tour guides dress in traditional clothes and the weapons are real but there is no gunpowder.  Julian Mitchell a tour guide snuck out of the house after lunch to play with his band at a gig for real money.  He sneaks back  into the house within the 2 hour tours and plans to beg Allison for her forgiveness.

Alison has loved the house for a long time and she is also a professor at the University writing papers about the house and the time period.  When she is locking up for the night she finds Julian dead with his jaw punctured by his bayonet.  She is questioned by the police for hours and then a FBI Krewe agent is sent to find out what happened.

Tyler Montague used to work as a Texas Ranger with Logan but now works in the special unit of the FBI called the Texas Krewe of Hunters.  All the members have some six sense and most of them can see ghosts.  Tyler is lead on this case and when he investigates further he decides to bring the rest of his team in.

Allison starts seeing Julian everywhere she goes and she believes she is going crazy.  The first time she sees him she faints dead away.  Tyler figures out she is seeing a ghost and manages to see and hear Julian himself.  When his team arrive they also see and hear Julian who tells them he didn't kill himself.

The Krewe stay at the house to figure out about events that started about ten years ago with a boy that was electrocuted when he tried to break into the house and then a tour guide died from a massive heart attack.  A recent case involves a father and husband that is in a coma after visiting the house.

I really enjoyed the storyline and the characters except for Allison who I thought was rude, stuckup and unbelieving.  I didn't really enjoy the romance because it was an abrupt turn from her being rude, stuckup and unbelieving to how safe she felt around Tyler and she started realizing how handsome he was.

3/5
