Blood Trails (The Searchers) [Mass Market Paperback]

I've finished "Blood Trails" the 3rd book in her Searchers trilogy series by Sharon Sala.

Product Description

Her "father's" deathbed confession reveals that Holly's real father was almost certainly the notorious serial killer known as "The Hunter," and that her mother gave Holly up to save her life. But The Hunter was never caught — and Holly's mother simply vanished.

In search of her past, Holly leaves both her home and Bud Tate, the handsome ranch foreman she's afraid to love, horrified by the knowledge that the blood of a depraved killer might run through her veins. Haunted, driven, she searches for The Hunter and hopes her mother was wrong.

But her search leads to a terrible truth no one could have imagined, and even Bud's determination to follow and protect the woman he loves may not be enough to save Holly from the terrors of a past become present.

My Review:

After their father's death Holly Slade and her two sisters found out their father wasn't their real father.  They found out there were secrets and danger in their past and they all set out to find the truth.

Holly found out her dad may have been a serial killer known as "The Hunter" and he may have killed her mom back in St. Louis.  She travels to St. Louis to discover what happened to her mom and if her dad lives there still.  She goes to the police with her suspicions about her dad being "The Hunter" and they re-open the case 20 years later.

Bud Tate is the ranch hand who has loved Holly from afar since she was 18 years old.  When bad things start happening he travels to St. Louis to protect Holly and finally confesses how he feels.  He's surprised that she has feelings for him too and their love scenes were really tender, gentle and loving.

The killer was very psychotic and you definitely wouldn't want to catch his action.  He even keeps trophies of his kills and looks at them every night and relives their deaths.
