Ripper [Hardcover]

I've finished "Ripper" by Stefan Petrucha.

Product Description

You thought you knew him. You were dead wrong.

Carver Young dreams of becoming a detective, despite growing up in an orphanage with only crime novels to encourage him. But when he is adopted by Detective Hawking of the world famous Pinkerton Agency, Carver is given not only the chance to find his biological father, he finds himself smack in the middle of a real life investigation: tracking down a vicious serial killer who has thrown New York City into utter panic. When the case begins to unfold, however, it's worse than he could have ever imagined, and his loyalty to Mr. Hawking and the Pinkertons comes into question. As the body count rises and the investigation becomes dire, Carver must decide where his true loyalty lies. Full of whip-smart dialogue, kid-friendly gadgets, and featuring a then New York City Police Commissioner Teddy Roosevelt, Ripper challenges everything you thought you knew about the world's most famous serial killer.

My Review:

I just had to read this book because I really stories about Jack the Ripper and a kid trying to solve one of the unsolved mysteries of the time.  Also I really enjoy reading stories about the Pinkerton Agency.

Carver Young is an orphan and really wants to become a detective (he's always reading and getting into mischief) and he has some traits already (he's always breaking into the owner's office).

He is adopted by Detective Hawkings of the Pinkerton Agency which gives him the chance to find his real father and he's thrown into a real life investigation to track down a viscious serial killer who has thrown New York into a panic.  As the body count rises Carver is forced to choose where his loyalty lies.

I highly recommend this book if you love a thrilling and exciting story with smart dialogue, kid friendly amazing gadgets and that challenges everything you knew about the world's famous serial killer.

5/5
